I was born in Billings, Montana - you guessed it, no water. However, it all changed for the good when I was drafted in the Army and stationed at Madigan General Hospital in Seattle/Tacoma area, and worked as an x-ray tech during my 3 years. I never went back to Montana. The water, the islands, and yes, BOATS, well, I was 'Hooked"!

Married, and with a teenage son and daughter (back in the 1970's) we put our kids on correspondence schooling, bought a 35' Fuji cutter sailboat sailed around the Pacific Northwest...then on to Mexico, the Marquesas Islands, Tuamotu Atoll Islands, Society Islands, Tahiti, Hawaii and back to Bellingham Wash. All with a sextant and a depth sounder. A great 4 years!

My passion for the water and boats has never left me. I lived aboard our sailboat for 10 years, started working in boat brokerage in 1983, and also was on staff with MasterCraft Ski Boats from 1986 - 2008 as Western Regional Coordinator and a competitive water skier.

This professional lifestyle with boats has included deliveries to Mexico, through the Caribbean, Bonaire, Panama Canal, Cocos Island, and Costa Rica. Lot's in the Northwest too!

The passion lives on as a "Certified Professional Yacht Broker", working with clients and finding the "Right Boat" for them. My boat search and travels with clients has reached beyond our local area, including the East & West coasts, Great Lakes, Florida, Mexico, and British Columbia.

Being involved for 40 years in the boat brokerage with surveys and sea trials on a lot of different boats and of course the "friendship" formed with clients from all over, really is a special highlight to my profession!

Lothar Taylor

Boating and aviation have been two life-long passions for me. Growing up in the Midwest, taking canoe trips on Wisconsin rivers and fishing trips to various lakes and rivers, I was always happy on the water. Following school, I pursued a 30+ year career in commercial / business aviation, earning a commercial pilot’s license and working in program management and business development worldwide in the industry.

During that aviation career I had several boating experiences. I learned to sail on Lake Union in 1986 and then sailed and raced while living in Orange County California. We owned a Bayliner ski boat and explored numerous lakes and the Mississippi River. I transitioned into semi-retirement in 2010 and now pursue what I like to call my encore career. A partner in the company with opportunities for sailing and powerboat instruction, boat brokerage and leading flotillas.

My wife Donna and I took the plunge in charter boat ownership in 2013. Three years later, we upgraded and now own the motoryacht Sea Wings. She’s in the San Juan fleet and we enjoy her whenever she’s not out giving others the same wonderful experiences we know in the Salish Sea waters.

Jonathan "Jon" Knowles

Jon comes from a long line of Cape Cod mariners, which over the last 200 years have included a Brewster clipper ship captain, and WW2 and Korean War naval ship commanders. Having long ago heard the call of the sea from his ancestors, he recently decided to leave a career in IT and Electrical Engineering to pursue his passion for boating.

Jon learned to sail on San Francisco Bay with the SFYC youth sailing program. He then moved on to sailing Cal-20s with his father, Joe, racing Solings, and crewing on any boat he could. During college, he raced with the UC San Diego Sailing Team. As a family the Knowles’ enjoyed chartering boats to cruise the waters of Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Japan.

Since relocating to the PNW in 1998, Jon has enjoyed exploring the local waters including the San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and even up to the northern tip of Vancouver Island and down south to Olympia. He has also cruised in the Mediterranean, along the southern coast of France to Spain, and the west coast of Turkey up to Istanbul. He participates in weekly club racing and regional regattas on his Etchells and J/35, ocean racing up and down the Pacific Coast, team racing in Australia and Canada, and double-handed deliveries from Hawaii to San Francisco.

When not sailing, you may find Jon skiing, hiking around Mt Baker, exploring the Oregon Coast, or enjoying concerts with his wife Ann, and 3 children Sam, Marle and Jack.
