Front row, from left to right...Danelle Kornelis

time in the summers, part time the rest of the year while attending Seattle Pacific
University and has been here full time since she graduated in 1999. She loves sailing!
Nathan Lowe...instructor...1997
"instructor of the year" as voted by students... 5 on a scale of 1-5!
Congratulations, Nathan! Nathan lives aboard a Pearson 39 (purchased through our
brokerage, of course!). Nathan is now a full-time broker with us.
Back row, left to right...
Marlene Van Dyken...co-founder of San Juan Sailing...special projects and hospitality are her
focus. She works on the special touches that set us apart at San Juan Sailing. She and
Roger sailed the islands with their children since they were infants. A few years ago,
they and their four children took a year and a half off to cruise the inland waterways of
Europe aboard their beloved barge "Vertrouwen".
Roger Van Dyken...founded San Juan Sailing in 1982. Roger and Marlene started chartering their
own partnership sailboat in 1976 and things just grew from there! Roger is immediate past
president of the Pacific Northwest Charter Association, authored "Barging in
Europe" and has sailed the islands for 20 years.
Pat McHugh...computer
systems tech. Pat is our resident expert on all our office computer systems...keeps our
mega-whatevers humming...on call day or night...or even when out sailing! Pat is now
working full-time with us in charters and sailing school.
Kathy Elenbaas...cleaning
specialist, key office assistant, and sailing enthusiast! She has sailed the islands with
her family her whole life! Kathy attends Dordt College in Iowa during the school year.
Danny Van Dyken...outside
boat cleaner, gofer, Dads special assistant. Tries out the fit of Dads chair
upon occasion. Attends Lynden Christian High School, and eagerly takes the sailing helm!
Lisa Brown...Lisa
has left us to cruise, with her husband Bill, on their Antarctic 44. We can monitor
their preparations from our office window. Good luck and bon voyage.
We'll miss her.
Wes Koenig...broker
par excellence! Low key, congenial straight shooter. A walking encyclopedia of sailboat
knowledge! One of the Northwests most experienced brokers, he and his wife Bertie
and their two children sailed the South Pacific for three and half years before putting
down roots in Bellingham.
